Our First Children’s Home Paint Project

Almost two decades ago, we launched our ‘Brighten Up Yourself Paint Project.’ We accepted the incredible task of transforming Matthew 25.40 Children’s Home with rich vibrant colors. We knew that some brighter palettes would create a more cheerful and alluring atmosphere for the children.

The home needed more than a fresh coat of paint. The internal walls were drab; the protective grills rusted and the exterior was not warm and inviting. Our onsite inspection revealed that we needed professional help, so we turned to and partnered with the experts at General Paintings Limited.

After our consultation with Sandy Thomas at GPL, we decided on a bold and colorful scheme that included all the bright and beautiful colors of the rainbow and beyond. We were determined to make a positive impact on the lives of the children who call it home.

As the painting began, the transformation was swift. The dull rusted white security grills were now bursting with rich colors, new life and energy. The neighbors watched with great anticipation as the colors came to life. Their excitement for the children was contagious.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was seeing the reaction of the children. As they entered the gate, they were delighted to see the transformation from the floor to the roof, the veranda to the hallways and amazed to see their living areas. Their spirits were visibly lifted.

They felt a sense of pride and ownership in their new home. It was a truly rewarding experience that has inspired us to continue our work in Children’s Homes and other vulnerable spaces across Jamaica. Let’s do it again. Projects like these are always available. Let’s create your story. Support a project today!
