Who We Are

A Jamaica focused, Florida-based 501c3 Non-Profit Corporation.

Inspired by a deep-rooted love for Jamaica and a desire to make a positive impact, Ronald Thomas established the Eye on Jamaica Project in 2004. He recognized the overwhelming challenges faced by vulnerable children there and sought to create a sustainable organization to address their needs.

We work with caregivers, stakeholders and the children to leverage their understanding of the unique issues they face and design programs and services to promote overall wellness free of charge. Our goal is to help children and underserved people thrive in spite of their circumstances.

Through our dedicated efforts and the generous support of our donors and volunteers, Eye on Jamaica has made a significant difference in the lives of countless Jamaican children and in other vulnerable spaces throughout the island of Jamaica.

We Go Where They Are…

The promise of Eye on Jamaica is a relentless pursuit of vulnerable people. Our emphasis is on underserved children especially those living in Children’s Homes and Orphanages all across Jamaica. We show up regardless of the dangers associated with volatile communities. Our philosophy in changing the reality of underserved children means gaining access to them. Our intent is to empower tomorrow’s adults by inspiring them in their formative years which is today.

We Build Strong Relationships…

Stronger together is our mantra. It begins with establishing camaraderie with the staff and creating a genuine bond with the children. Our first conversation with the staff is thanking them for the awesome work they do with children in need of care and protection. With the children we communicate in the language they speak best, play! Once barriers are broken, we get down to work. We work with Caregivers and Stakeholders to leverage their understanding of the unique challenges they face.

Charity programs for children

If you truly want to know how to fix a problem, you have to go to the source. Often times, the front line personnel are ignored resulting in employee dissatisfaction and inadequate care for the children. Our Needs Analysis reveal the deficiencies and most urgent needs from facility maintenance, food security, educational assistance, staff appreciation and social activities.

We are Awareness & Response

Armed with location information, a strong rapport and understanding of the needs, we are able to disseminate information and craft our own responses. The creation of our Self Care, Play Therapy, Self Defense and Food Security programs are the end result of understanding the needs of 57 vulnerable spaces and counting. Bringing awareness and creating response initiatives is the driving force of the work we do. Please join us in creating a more equitable Jamaica for its children and most vulnerable people.
